Misalignment causes a large share of bearing and coupling failures and is measurable long before anything sounds wrong; a guided laser system gets a machine into tolerance without the interpretation that dial gauges demand. The adaptive measurement mode works where the shaft cannot be turned through a full rotation, which on installed plant is often the constraint.
