The 922 measures differential pressure, air velocity and volume flow, which between them are what an HVAC balancing job actually consists of. The kit version includes the pitot tube and hoses, without which the instrument can only do part of the work. For commissioning engineers proving a system delivers the design airflow, this is the measurement chain in one case.
