The 381's display detaches from the clamp. That sounds like a convenience and is actually a safety feature: the clamp stays on the conductor inside the panel while you read it from a distance, standing somewhere with better light and no exposed terminals. Supplied with the iFlex probe for conductors the jaw will not reach. Specified where measurements have to be taken in cramped or energised spaces.
